Margarita Island Events & Attractions

Caribbean people love to celebrate! No matter which island you go to you are likely to find yourself close to someone dancing to original salsa, seductive jazz or sexy rumba. Caribbean festivals are famous for being vivid and passionate, filled with live music and dance, King and Queen elections and street parades. Carnivals are clebrated all over the year by wearing masks and rich, colorful costumes. Anywhere you go in the Caribbean you will experience the diverse culture and the ethnic blend of Spanish, Dutch, Indian and African heritage.

Our favorite and not-to-be-missed festivals are: Reggae Sumfest held in July in Jamaica, Junkanoo held in December in Nassau, Bahamas, Port of Spain's Carnival in Trinidad & Tobago and Santiago's Carnival in the Dominican Republic.

There are several folkloric celebrations offering much enjoyment to spectators and participants in the colorful events.

Carnival

When: 02/01/2009 - 02/28/2009 , Date to be announced
Where: Margarita Island
Carnival is celebrated on Tuesdays. With the preceding Monday being granted a holiday, most Venezuelans head for the beach for this extra long weekend.

Semana Santa

When: 04/05/2009 - 04/13/2009 , Between Palm Sunday and Easter
Where: Margarita Island
As a predominately Catholic country, Venezuela observes Holy Week.
