Jamaica Events & Attractions

Caribbean people love to celebrate! No matter which island you go to you are likely to find yourself close to someone dancing to original salsa, seductive jazz or sexy rumba. Caribbean festivals are famous for being vivid and passionate, filled with live music and dance, King and Queen elections and street parades. Carnivals are clebrated all over the year by wearing masks and rich, colorful costumes. Anywhere you go in the Caribbean you will experience the diverse culture and the ethnic blend of Spanish, Dutch, Indian and African heritage.

Our favorite and not-to-be-missed festivals are: Reggae Sumfest held in July in Jamaica, Junkanoo held in December in Nassau, Bahamas, Port of Spain's Carnival in Trinidad & Tobago and Santiago's Carnival in the Dominican Republic.

Chukka Original Canopy Tour

Your journey through nature will be via a series of decks and platforms, mounted in the trees of the rainforest that are connected by traverses. Your first traverse soars over the Great River in Montego Bay. Your journey continues with eight more traverses. Each traverse and platform is unique, offering a variety of experiences highlighting the diversity of Jamaica's landscape and history. Nine traverses, from 105 feet to 660 feet apart, have you swinging through the Laughlands River Gorge, a giant valley carved from the surrounding mountain by ancient waters (a sparkling river still flows through it). At different points in the tour, you will glimpse the miles-away Caribbean Sea and learn interesting facts about the surrounding tree and plant life.

Rose Hall Great House

On the hills of the former Rose Hall Sugar Estates just outside Montego Bay and overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea is the very imposing Rose Hall Great House. You will learn many stories about its former owner, Annie Palmer and the cruelty she meted out to her slaves. Legend has it that the Great House is haunted by her spirit and that you might see or feel the presence of Annie's ghost roaming about the house. Restored to its former glory, you may have a guided tour of this historic house and its furnishings designed after Georgian architecture that was built of cut stone on the first two levels and stucco on the third and uppermost level.
